HYDERABAD: Two villagers from a tribal community were killed by CPI Maoists in Wajedu, Mulugu district, on Friday morning after being accused of being police informers.

District police said that panchayath secretary Uika Ramesh, 36, and Uika Arjun, 35 were killed by Maoists using an axe or sickle. Both the victims are brothers. Police suspect at least 3-4 Maoists came as a group to the village and called the victims.

It was then the victims were killed. At the spot, a letter was left by Maoists. The letter with the title "Police informer Uika Arjun is finished".

“Under some pretext, Arjun used to enter the forest and observe the locations of Maoists camps and then share the information to the police by making a telephone call. In the past he was warned to mend his ways but he did not heed. Hence, he was eliminated," CPI Maoist (Venkatpuram-Wajedu Area Committee) secretary Shantha said in the letter.

After police came to know about the incident, they reached the spot but Maoists left the village by this time. The investigators started to gather information from the local villagers about the Maoists who were involved in the offence.
