Telangana BC netas to stage dhara in Delhi for 42% quota
Hyderabad: Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha, along with Congress MLAs representing the Backward Classes (BC), are scheduled to travel to New Delhi on Tuesday to take part in a dharna. The BC welfare organisations planned the dharna on April 2 and sought the Parliament to endorse the bill passed by the Telangana assembly, which seeks to raise reservation for BCs to 42%.
Prominent AICC leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy, deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, and other ministers, along with MLAs Aadi Srinivas, Birla Ilaiah, Makan Singh Raj Thakur, Vakiti Srihari, and Eerlapalli Shankarayya, are expected to participate in the dharna in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the delegation of Telangana ministers are expected to meet Central government officials and leaders of various political parties on April 2 and 3 to discuss the caste survey conducted in Telangana and garner support for the legislation aimed at increasing BC reservations to 42%.
With the assistance of senior AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, the Telangana Congress team will also meet representatives of different parties to advocate for the BC reservations bill.
