Hyderabad: Telangana hopes to emerge as a role model for digital governance by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing and blockchain to improve public service delivery, IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu said on Friday.
Addressing a session titled ‘Agents of Change: AI for Government Services and Climate Resilience' at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the minister said technology is being positioned as a core transformational tool under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision. The govt is actively integrating technology with citizen services to bridge the gap between the administration and the people, strengthen last-mile delivery, and reduce misuse in welfare programmes.
He highlighted initiatives such as Bharat Future City, AI City, AI University, AIKAM, the AI-driven Telangana Digital Exchange and Bhu Bharati, stating that they would reinforce the state's digital governance framework. Emphasising inclusive innovation, he said Telangana is exploring the use of Agentic AI to ensure emerging technologies benefit all sections of society. He added that the state is expanding technology adoption across agriculture, climate resilience, healthcare, sustainable urban development, clean energy and disaster management.
In another session with Swedish trade representatives and global technology stakeholders, he pitched Telangana as a treasure trove of opportunities, describing its vast talent pool as its greatest strength. He said Telangana has a strong and dynamic talent pool capable of driving impactful research and innovation in AI.
The minister told the gathering that the Telangana govt, under chief minister A Revanth Reddy, is preparing for rapid AI-driven changes in job roles through skilling and reskilling initiatives. He said AI research centres, applications and service ecosystems would create new employment opportunities and urged youth to seize them.
He also pointed to a large-scale push to provide internet connectivity to every village, with T-Fibre working over the past two years to connect rural areas. He described Telangana as a "haven for investment," citing a pro-innovation ecosystem, uninterrupted power supply and a stable policy framework.
