Hyderabad: The all-round ability of
Ravi Teja was to the fore once again as Hyderabad registered a 43-run win over Baroda in the Ranji Trophy Group B match in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Man of the match
Teja scored a resolute second innings fifty and returned with a match haul of eight wickets to star in Hyderabad win. Having taken a slender 34-run first innings lead, Hyderabad resumed day three at 169/6 and were all out for 201 in the second.
No. 8 Teja resumed on his overnight 36 and completed his sixth first-class half-century to take Hyderabad past 200.
Hyderabad lost their last three wickets for one run with Baroda's Babashafi Pathan mopping up the tail for returns of 4/35.
Requiring 240 to win, Baroda were bundled out for 192 with Teja doing the damage with his figures of 4/70. He had claimed 4/50 in the first innings.
New ball bowler B Punnaiah (2/41) made early inroads by dismissing openers Jyotsnil Singh (1) and Kedav Devdhar (20) in successive overs. Teja and
Tanay Thyagarajan (3/37) then got into the act to sharing the spoils.
However, the win may not be enough for Hyderabad (12 points) to qualify for the knockout round as Bengal (12) are well placed for an outright win against Chandigarh.
