HYDERABAD: A team of CID officers will fly to Bangkok in the first week of June to bring bank Krushi Bank scamster K Venkateshwara Rao to Hyderabad. Deputy inspector-general of police C V Anand, superintendent of police V C Sajjanar along with two deputy superintendents have been assigned for the task. A Bangkok court had on April 26 given a formal clearance for Venkateshwara Rao's extradition to India.
The Thai government threw open a two-window on May 12 for the scamster to be taken to India.
"The CID team is awaiting a political clearance from the ministry of external affairs before taking off to Bangkok. The team will leave as soon as the clearance reaches the state government and the police department," sources told TOI.Venkateshwara Rao will be produced in a local court as soon as he reaches Hyderabad. Later the CID will seek police custody to interrogate him. The CID has prepared a check list to extract information from Rao. "If necessary, he will be subjected to a lie-detector est," the officers said.
