rajahmundry: it's neck and neck fight between the ruling tdp and congress party in the rajahmundry civic polls. the counting of votes, which started slowly, picked up by noon. by the end of counting of 22 wards, the tdp mayoral candidate m s chakravarthi was leading by 1,200 votes against his nearest congress rival g harsha kumar. out of the 23 wards whose results were available so far 10 went to the ruling tdp and 12 wards were won by the congress party.
the lone independent seat went to a tdp rebel candidate b prakash who won from ward number 42 ward by a margin of 86 votes. out of the total 44 wards so far results for 23 wards were available in which tdp candidate n ramachandra rao won the first ward with 76 votes and the k appalaswamy of the same party has won the second ward with majority of 200 votes. ruling tdp party candidates who won the elections are k padmavathi, j murali krishna, v srinivas, n chittibabu, p savithri, n sushila and j jaya dev. the congress candidates who have been declared elected so far are k sheshayya, b kondababu, vasamsetti gangadhara rao, b krishna madhuri, b srinivas, venkasteswara rao, k seethamma, a suresh, n tamma rao, b padmavathi and v muralidhar.
