HYDERABAD: The TDP''s massive rally, the Vijayabheri, is all set to roll. A few alterations in plans have been incorporated to tone down its mammoth proportions, in order to ensure its smooth conduct. The party has decided not to have elephants or camels to lead the procession.
Instead, the rally will be led by decorated horses carrying the party flag.
TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, who was to originally lead the procession from the Nizam College grounds, will join it midway near Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund. Prior to that Naidu would go to NTR Ghat and offer floral tributes.
According to Rajya Sabha MP R Chandrashekar Reddy, the rally will begin at 1 pm from Nizam College grounds and reach the venue by 4 pm. Meanwhile, the crowds at the Parade Grounds will be entertained with cultural programmes.
The public meeting would commence at 4 pm. In all about 12 speakers, including ministers Y Ramakrishnudu, Kadiam Srihari, N Janardhan Reddy and leaders like K Yerran Naidu, Mahila president N Rajakumari, RTC chairman Shoba Nagi Reddy and others will speak at the meeting.
As the public meeting would be attracting full media glare, TDP is gearing up for not only presenting a progress report of its nine-year rule but also to lambast the opposition.
In a sort of a rehearsal, finance minister Y Ramakrishnudu, Rajya Sabha MP R Chandrashekar Reddy and S Venugopalachari flayed the Congress and TRS.
Ramakrishnudu called APCC president D Srinivas a naive man without the basic knowledge of what the World Bank was or how it functions. Chandrashekar Reddy and Venugopalachari alleged that Srinivas and TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had lost their "mental balance."
