HYDERABAD: The Water Board on Saturday pressed more tankers into action. This helped to improve the situation a bit in waterstarved localities as private operators stayed off the roads for the third day in succession.
Later in the day, municipal administration minister B V Mohan Reddy reviewed the situation. He instructed the Board to keep up its supply efforts and drill more borewells, as per the need.
Despite the government''s efforts, complaints of inadequate supplies continued to come in from Nampally, Marredpally, Mehdipatnam, Narayanguda, Red Hills, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills and SR Nagar.

Care Hospital, Nampally, faced a shortage as the water available from the borewell was not enough to meet its needs.
"The situation is quite bad. Things got pretty serious on Friday. So, we had to divert water from the canteen and the laundry to the patient care unit. It''s a lot better now," a hospital official said.
Shortages were also reported from Nampally Hospital. "There is not enough water," a patient''s relative said. The borewell here too has gone dry. In Mehdipatnam, some housing complexes, including the B N Reddy Apartments, are managing with the available borewell supply. "We depended on private tankers to augment our stocks. We are tapping the remaining borewell water we have. But once that gets exhausted, we''ll have to look elsewhere," a resident said.
HMWS&SB managing director M G Gopal said his department was continuing with its efforts to rush water tankers to the different areas according to the demand.
