Tanay (7/63) wrecks Nagaland

Hyderabad: Nagaland are staring at an innings defeat against Hyderabad as Tanay Thyagarajan wreaked havoc on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Plate group semifinal at the Rajiv Gandhi international cricket stadium on Saturday. The left-arm orthodox spinner’s season best of 7/63 made it a total of 40 wickets in his sixth match.Following on, the visitors were 20/1, still 236 runs in arrears. They lost their first innings top scorer Joshua Ozukam, who was run out, courtesy vice-captain Rahul Singh’s smart work in the field.Hyderabad added 79 more runs before declaring at 462/8 in the morning. Nagaland lost their first two wickets with just eight runs on the board. Ravi Teja removed opener Yugandar Reddy for 3. Sedezhalie Rupero was dismissed for a duck in the same manner in Teja's fifth over. Opener Ozukum and skipper Rongsen Jonathan steadied Nagaland and added 78 runs for the third wicket.As the ball became old, playing Tanay became difficult for the batsmen. Tanay struck in the 23rd over when Jonathan hit straight to Nitesh Reddy for 41 (50b). Joshua was , caught by Tanmay Agarwal off Tanay.Sumit Kumar and Jaganath Srinivas added 79 runs for the fifth wicket before the former was cleaned up by Tanay. In fact, in three overs from the 52nd of the innings, Tanay took five wickets.
