T, New Jersey sign sister pact

Hyderabad: Telangana and US state New Jersey signed a ‘Sister State Partnership Agreement’ here on Wednesday. The agreement was signed by chief secretary SK Joshi and New Jersey governor Phil Murphy in the presence of IT and industries minister KT Rama Rao.

The agreement was signed to strengthen partnership and good relations between the people of the two states. The agreement facilitates cooperation in areas of economic development such as IT, pharma and life sciences, biotech, fintech, media, data centres, clean energy, higher education, tourism, culture and healthcare sectors. The agreement would encourage continued discussions, develop programmes and activities of mutual interest amongst the people of New Jersey and Telangana.

KTR said Telangana would benefit in several sectors with this sister-state agreement. He stated that a lot of Telugu people reside in New Jersey and he too was a resident of New Jersey for a brief period.

New Jersey governor Phil Murphy said: “Telangana is suitable for global businesses.”
