T Cong highlights govt feats, accuses BRS of corruption
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC B Mahesh Kumar Goud criticised Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his comments about the Congress govt. He urged KCR to fulfil his responsibilities as Leader of the Opposition (LoP) by engaging in the Assembly and providing constructive feedback. In an open letter marking one year of Congress governance in Telangana, the senior Congress leader stated, "People of Telangana, who suffered under a decade of your [KCR] family's misrule, now see the significant improvements made by Congress and will not be influenced by false narratives."Discussing the BRS tenure, he alleged that it was characterised by corruption, inefficiency, and a lack of connection with the populace. He also accused KCR of neglecting the secretariat in favour of his farmhouse, allowing corruption to flourish, and failing to meet the hopes of those who fought for Telangana's statehood. He pointed out KCR's unfulfilled promise to appoint a Dalit chief minister and accused him of manipulating the sentiments of Telangana's citizens to gain power. Goud alleged that KCR marginalised key figures from the Telangana movement and kept political opportunities within his family. In contrast, the TPCC chief highlighted the Congress government's accomplishments in its first year, asserting that it delivered on commitments made in the ‘Warangal Declaration,' such as job creation, waiving crop loans for farmers, and implementing welfare programmes for women. He noted that over 54,000 govt positions were filled, loans up to 2 lakh were waived, and crop insurance was introduced. Goud also labelled the Kaleshwaram irrigation project a "corruption-laden initiative" and held KCR accountable for its operational shortcomings. He charged the previous tenure with fiscal mismanagement, leaving Telangana with a significant debt burden.
