Sutradhar's Oleanna — a reflection on academic power play

With changing dynamics of the student-teacher equation, our education system is marred with incidents of academic power play and reflecting on such incidents, city-based theatre group Sutradhar staged a play titled Oleanna, based on David Mamet’s two-character play by the same name at Ravindra Bharathi recently. Directed by Prof Bhasker Shewalkar, the play revolves around a university professor played by Vinay Varma and a female student played by Supriya, who accuses the professor of sexual exploitation. Varma and Supriya’s commendable performances kept the audience glued to their seats and were later rewarded with a thumping applause
