One among them was a 28-year-old accident victim, B Rajashekar from Karnataka. Rajashekar, who came with his wife to avail treatment for his injured leg, was shocked at the non-availability of doctors.

“We are waiting in the sun with all our luggage from 9 in the morning. It is 1pm now, and we received no help whatsoever. We are new to the city, and do not know where else to go. I cannot even walk on my own. Where do I go?” he asked. Those from far-flung areas had a harrowing time accessing medical facilities.

R Satyanarayana (42), who came from Kurnool, had suffered serious injuries to his leg, forehead and face in an accident last week, and was made to wait in the scorching heat for two hours, and then turned away. “I have been waiting here from morning. My leg is swelling up and turning black. I need to consult a doctor to check if the injury is infected, he said.
