While the team, led by Jagjeet Singh, performed bhangra dance during its visit to AVN college recently, a Burrakatha party from Draksharamam in East Godavari district gave a peek into the popular oral storytelling technique of Andhra Pradesh to the Punjab team. The college students also took part in several cultural activities. N Srinivasa Mahesh, assistant director, regional outreach bureau, said a team from AP will soon visit Punjab. “The initiative will help showcase the rich heritage, culture, customs and traditions of the two states and help students and other segments of the society understand and appreciate the country’s diversity besides fostering a sense of common identity,” said Mahesh.
He added that an activity calendar was being prepared through mutual consultation for a yearlong process of mutual engagement.
