HYDERABAD: An engineering student died and his friend suffered injuries when their bike hit a tipper at Pedamberpet
on the outskirts of the city on Monday. The deceased was identified as Akash Raju, 22, a BTech final year student at St Mary's Engineering College, Desmukhi. The mishap occurred at 10 am when Akash, along with his friend
Manasvi Manu, was going to the college on a bike.
At a gap in the median at Pedamberpet, a tipper coming from Suryapet to Hyderabad suddenly took a U- turn. Manu, who was riding the bike, applied brakes suddenly and both the youngsters fell on the road.
The front tyre of the tipper ran over the pillion rider Akash. He died on the spot. Manu escaped with minor injuries.
Immediately after the incident, the tipper driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot.
A case was registered against him under section 304-A (Causing death by rash or negligent act) and 337 (Causing hurt by an act which endangers human life, etc.) as per the Indian Penal Code.
