Justice R Kantha Rao of the AP High Court on Monday refused to review his earlier order declaring the election of Chennamaneni Ramesh, as MLA from Vemulavada constituency in Karimnagar district as invalid.

HYDERABAD: Justice R KanthaRao of the AP High Court on Monday refused to review his earlier order declaring the election of ChennamaneniRamesh, as MLA from Vemulavada constituency in Karimnagar district as invalid.
The judge also refused to suspend the order for sometime to enable the beleaguered legislator to challenge it in the Supreme Court.
Ramesh was in Germany and had become a German citizen before contesting the election here.

He did not fulfill the statutory condition of staying in India for one year to become a valid voter in India and therefore he cannot contest as a candidate in the assembly elections, the judge said in his order. It was this order Ramesh wanted the court to review or stay, but the court declined to do both.
