SSC pass percentage rises in Telangana as girls outperform boys; residential schools excel
Hyderabad: Telangana recorded a slight improvement in its secondary school certificate (SSC) exam results this year, with the overall pass percentage rising to 92.78%, up from 91.31% last year and 86.6% in 2023.
Of the 4.96 lakh regular candidates who appeared for the exam, 4.6 lakh successfully passed. Impressively, several students scored above 590 out of 600, and 4,629 schools recorded a 100% pass rate, while two schools had zero pass percentage.
As has been the trend, girls outperformed boys, with a pass percentage 2.94% higher than that of boys, who recorded 91.32%.
District-wise, Mahabubabad emerged at the top with a pass percentage of 99.29%, while Vikarabad registered the lowest at 73.97%. Performance in Greater Hyderabad was disappointing, with Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy ranked 30th and 31st out of 33 districts, with pass percentages of 88.53% and 87.84% respectively. Medchal ranked 28th with 90.76%.
Among schools, Telangana state residential schools led the pack with a pass percentage of 98.79%. Other residential institutions, including BC welfare, SC/ST welfare, minority residential schools, model schools, Ashram, KGBVs, and private schools, also performed above the state average. In contrast, aided, Zilla Parishad, and government schools lagged.
In addition to regular candidates, 10,733 private candidates appeared for the SSC exams this year, registering a pass percentage of 57.22%, up from 49.73% in 2024 and 44.51% in 2023.
In subject-wise performance, more than 99% of students passed in social studies and second and third languages, about 98% cleared first language, and over 96% passed in mathematics and science.
The board has withheld the results of a few candidates due to missing information from schools, spot valuation camps, or examination centres. These cases are being reviewed and will be resolved shortly.
