HYDERABAD: The efforts of students from Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology seeking rollback of enhanced tuition fee on twitter evoked response from the state information technology minister K Taraka Rama Rao, who assured students that he would up the issue with deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari.
On June 29, hundreds of students and parents protested at the institute's Ghatkesar campus, objecting to the management's decision to enhance tuition fees from 97,000 to 1.37 lakh for academic year 2018-19.

Students flooded the IT minister's twitter feed seeking justice. Responding to a student, KTR tweeted - "Received number of tweets on the fee hike in Sreenidhi. Will discuss with deputy CM @KadiyamSrihari garu."
The additional fee of 40,000 is being sought following an interim order issued by the high court last year. The management had moved HC seeking increase in tuition fee after Telangana Fee Regulatory Committee fixed 97,000 as annual fee. "#snistprotest #wewantjustice we the students of Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology are being forced to pay tuition fees of 1.37 lakhs. But the original tuition fee is 97k.@KTRTRS sir please help us. We are asking the management from so long but there is no response," tweeted Kalyan, a student.
The protesting students not only gathered support from KTR but also from Telangana floor leader for the Bharatiya Janta Party G Kishan Reddy. "I have taken up the issue of high fee being charged by various private engineering colleges in Telangana Assembly, state education minister Sri @KadiyamSrihari has promised to look into the issue on the floor of the house. I will again take up this issue with officials & the minister," Reddy tweeted.
