HYDERABAD: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday questioned deputy director of
Sports Authority of Telangana
State (SATS) in relation to the sports quota medical admission scam.
The state government had ordered an ACB probe into the irregularities in SATS issuing certificates to ineligible people. On June 6, ACB arrested SATS deputy director G Venkataramana for allegedly playing a key role.
The arrest was made based on a complaint by
Satyanarayana
, father of medical seat aspirant
Bharathchandra Reddy
, who alleged that Venkataramana had taken Rs 1 lakh bribe.
According to sources, Venkataramana did not divulge any information during the interrogation on Tuesday. “He claimed he did not take any bribe and that no irregularities have taken place in sports quota admissions in medical colleges,” an ACB official said.
ACB has sought an extension of his custody and received a positive order from court.
“Venkataramana will be questioned again on Wednesday and will be produced in court on Thursday,” said an ACB official.
