Plea against appointment of Telangana DGP withdrawn
HYDERABAD: City-based social worker T Dhangopal Rao, who filed a petition in Telangana high court challenging the appointment of B Shivadhar Reddy as the DGP (head of police force), Telangana, withdrew an appeal he filed before a division bench of the high court challenging the Jan 9 order of the single judge.Dismissing Dhangopal's plea to suspend Reddy's appointment, the single judge directed the Union Public Service Commission to consider the list of IPS officers sent by the state in the last week of Dec 2025 and process the appointment of a full-time DGP to the state in compliance with the apex court guidelines.Challenging this order, Dhangopal moved an appeal before the division bench. When the matter came up before the bench of Justices P Sam Koshy and Justice N Narsing Rao, Dhangopal informed the bench that the Supreme Court directed the govt to expedite the process of appointing a full-time DGP (HoPF) in Telangana, and sought permission from the bench to withdraw his appeal.Recording the submission, the bench dismissed the appeal as withdrawn and disposed of the matter.
