NALGONDA: A trainee police sub-inspector, Bharat Naidu, allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl at Alakapuri Colony here on Sunday. The girl, who escaped from the clutches of the SI shouted for help, and neighbours, who gathered there in strength, came to her rescue. However, the SI gave them the slip and absconded. Later, the victim lodged a complaint with the Nalgonda II-Town police station.
According to Nalgonda police, Bharat Naidu, who is attached to Choutuppal police station, befriended the minor girl about two months ago. On Sunday he invited the girl, who lives in Chityal, to his home in Nalgonda town. The SI attempted to rape the girl but he came out after some workers knocked the door. After they left, he again attempted to rape her. The girl, however, managed to escape.
Deputy police superintendent P
