HYDERABAD: The Republic of Botswana has appointed Supreme Court of India advocate Shetty Udaya Kumar Sagar as its Honorary Consul for Telangana.
At a programme held in Hyderabad on September 2, Gilbert Shimane Mangole, High Commissioner, Republic of Botswana officially appointed Shetty Uday Kumar as Honorary Consul of Republic of Botswana. Shetty Udaya Kumar Sagar hails from Narayankhed in Telangana.
"India and Botswana have been important strategic partners and enjoyed cordial relations since Botswana achieved its independence in 1966. Telangana, a vibrant state, is the 8th largest state in terms of GDP in India, making strides in agriculture, manufacturing, IT, Defence and other sectors,” Gilbert Shimane Mangole said.
He said Botswana was a resourceful and culturally rich country yet unexplored economy, presenting new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors. “We are confident, the appointment of Uday Kumar Sagar as Honorary Consul in Telangana, will help both Botswana and India in exploring new opportunities in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, education, health, IT, and other areas," he said.
Shetty Udaya Kumar Sagar is a legal luminary with more than three and half decades of rich experience. He is the Standing Counsel for Telangana in Supreme Court of India, Additional Advocate General to Haryana, legal advisor to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and to the Bharatiya Janata Party, among others.
“I will strive to build partnership between Telangana and Botswana in trade, investment and cultural spheres and take bilateral relations between India and Botswana to greater heights," Shetty Uday Kumar Sagar said after being appointed as Honorary Consul.
