HYDERABAD: Mohammed Shafiq Ahmed, the Hyderabadi who was deported by the British immigration officials to India, was released on bail in the wee hours of Thursday. He was released on a personal bond of Rs 5,000.Shafiq's relatives told TOI that his luggage and passport were retained by police. "They forcibly made Shafiq sign on some papers, the contents of which he was not allowed to read.
Police threatened him with dire consequences if he did not sign the papers," Shafiq's brother-in-law, requesting anonymity, alleged.
The Begumpet police late on Wednesday arrested Shafiq for "reasonable suspicion" under Section 41 A of the CrPC. Police can arrest an individual just on a 'credible information' or 'reasonable suspicion'.
