HYDERABAD: Security has been beefed up at all major churches in the twin cities, particularly in Secunderabad area, as lakhs of people attend prayers on the occasion of Christmas on Tuesday.Anti-sabotage checks have been conducted by bomb disposal squads attached with the City Security Wing (CSW) at nearly 140 churches located in the city on Monday.
The North Zone has the highest number of churches in its jurisdiction, 48. "Security has been tightened from Monday night itself as thousands of devouts attend midnight mass," North Zone DCP M Shiva Prasad said.
Police patrolling has been intensified near the churches and police in mufti have also been deployed, the DCP added.
