HYDERABAD: As part of their 'Operation Narcos', Railway Protection Force (RPF), Secunderabad, personnel have recovered narcotics worth 2.43 crore this year.
According to RPF officials, they have arrested nine persons and recovered drugs in 10 instances. Last year, the officials explained that they had recovered 7.84 crore worth narcotic substances and arrested 41 persons in 35 cases.
"Compared to the corresponding period last year, there has been a 182.5% increase in seizure value this year. On Thursday night, 41 kilograms of ganja was seized during a routine check at the Khammam railway station, which is one of the biggest seizures this year," senior divisional security commissioner, RPF, Secunderabad, Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee said
The RPF officer said that they have intensified checks on trains in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to target those involved in the illegal trade.
Operation Narcos was launched by the RPF, which is empowered to seize and arrest under the NDPS Act.
