HYDERABAD: A 21-year-old schoolteacher died under mysterious circumstances soon after she was dropped home by her fiancé at Uppal on Sunday. Cops, however, suspect it to be a case of sunstroke.
The victim was identified as Supraja from East Kalyanpuri Colony in Uppal. A BTech graduate, Supraja was working as a teacher at a local school at Uppal. Since the past six months, she was in love with Usha Kiran, a businessman from Boduppal.
At 10.30 am on Sunday, Supraja left her house saying she was going to attend her friend
birthday party. Instead, she met Kiran and they went together to a function organized by his brother at Kattamaisamma temple in Uppal.
While Supraja was at the function, Kiran's family members called up her mother saying she was looking very weak and was
not well. Shortly after, Kiran dropped Supraja in his car at her house. Upon entering the house, Supraja requested her mother for lemon juice. She then refused lunch and went to sleep.
"At 3 pm, Supraja's mother tried to wake her up and realized she was unconscious. Her family members rushed her to a private hospital in Ramanthapur, where she was declared brought dead," Uppal sub-inspector (SI) B Praveen Kumar said.
During the preliminary probe, police came to know that both the families had decided to perform the couple's wedding within a few weeks. "We suspect that Supraja might have died due to sunstroke. Her family did not raise any doubts about foul play by Kiran or his family members," the SI added. However, police shifted the body for a post-mortem examination and r
registered a case under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the CrPC.
