hyderabad: students from 15 schools of the old city area participated in the hindi sammelan at madina educational centre, reciting poems and songs in appreciation of hindi as the national language here on wednesday. organised by the uttar bharathi sangh of the city, the students from the schools gave speeches underlining the significance of hindi. a seventh class student of st paul's hi-tech school, begumbazar, rendered a couplet saying pahle apne ghar me bana hua angrezi ka ghar thodo (dismantle the entity of english from our home).
"it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect hindi which is the national language," said a sixth standard student m soumiya of st paul's hi-tech school, begumbazar. the 15 schools which participated in the sammelan include marwadi high school, marwadi hindi vidyalaya, banzilal balika vidyalaya, vandey mataram school, st paul's hi-tech school and vidya vihar high school from begum bazar. kayesth patshala, neo parageon public school, and modern high school from hussaini alam, national school from puranapool, little angel school from charmahal and british english school from dilsukhnagar. a teacher from marwadi high school, begumbazar durga prasad dube encouraged the students to express their views about hindi. the students of goodwill high school and rabindranath school also participated by singing group songs. the students sang patriotic songs like vande mataram and ham hai hindustani. the chief guests on the occasion were sree ram tiwari, inspector general of police and umesh sharaff, deputy commissioner of police, west zone.
