NEW DELHI: Top Telugu actor Allu Arjun, accused in a case linked to the death of a woman during a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of his latest film Pushpa 2, appeared before a local court via video conference on Friday.
The actor, listed as Accused No. 11, filed a regular bail petition, which is likely to be heard on December 30.
The incident occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a 35-year-old woman lost her life, and her eight-year-old son sustained injuries as fans scrambled to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun during the film's premiere.
Following his December 13 arrest, Allu Arjun was produced before the Nampally court, which sent him to 14 days of judicial custody. The Telangana high court granted him four weeks of interim bail the next day, allowing his release on December 14.
The city police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s family.
The case is under further investigation.
