HYDERABAD: Adding suspense to the ongoing battle in ACA, a local court directed SAAP managing director Shashi Bhushan Kumar to scrutinise all the nominations before conducting the election on Wednesday. In response to a petition filed by Guntur cricket association secretary Mohamatam Venkateswara Rao, the third district additional judge M Srinivasula Reddy asked the Saap MD not to declare the result of the election till July 20.
The court also asked him to submit a detailed report to the High Court.
The petitioner also challenged the eligibility of the brass of the rival panel, including Gokaraju Gangaraju, to contest the election. The petitioner said the presidential candidates D V Subbarao and Gangaraju were ineligible to contest the elections as they did not attend the general body representing their respective clubs twice in the last two years, which was mandatory as per the by-law of the ACA.
Venkateswara Rao had also contested the eligibility of Mohan Das (vice-president), Umamaheswara Rao (south zone secretary) and Prabhakara Rao (north-zone secretary) to enter the fray. Interestingly, Venkateswara Rao, a Nekkanti loyalist, also found fault with the Gangaraju group on unilateral decision to appoint B L K Reddy as the returning officer. With the court asking Shashi Bhushan Kumar to scrutinise the nominations once again, it is not clear whether the elections would be held as per schedule.
