WARANGAL: The district administration has prepared Rs 96 crore proposals for Sammakka-Saralamma jatara scheduled to be held at Medaram in Warangal district between February 8 and 11, next year.
District collector Bojja Rahul visited Medaram village and performed special puja to the deities. Speaking to reporters, he said the proposals aimed at helping in the smooth conduct of the famous tribal jatara have been sent to the government.
The state government had sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the jatara in 2010.

"We want to provide better amenities and raise permanent structures for the benefit of lakhs of devotees who throng the jatara from various parts of the country," he said.
The administration is planning to construct another bridge on Jampanna Vagu to avoid heavy congregation of devotees on the present bridge across the stream. The collector said the expansion works on NH-202 were pending in the forest area of Pasra and Tadwai following a case pending in the Supreme Court.
"We are trying to get forest clearance and permission from the court to undertake works much before the commencement of the jatara," he added.
