HYDERABAD: A rural medical practitioner (RMP) was arrested on Tuesday for the alleged rape and murder of a 37-year-old woman from his village in Nalgonda district on Tuesday.
He picked her up in his car and drove to Nalgonda. "He allegedly offered her a soft drink laced with a sedative and raped her in the car. Subsequently, he injected her with a pesticide and, to dump the victim who was in a semi-conscious condition, started driving towards Devarakonda. Our team noticed the accused driving his car with headlights turned off at Gurrampode and chased him,"SI P Madhu said.
At Kacharam village in Nalgonda district, the accused stopped the car and pushed the victim out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, police reached the spot and caught him red-handed.
"We shifted the victim to Devarakonda area hospital, and from to Osmania General Hospital. She succumbed on Monday," the SI said.
