HYDERABAD: Police arrested four persons, including prime accused Seetharam Naik, for their allegedly kidnapping 10-year-old girl, N Jyothi, and taking her to Mumbai. The girl and the culprits were brought back to the city.
On Saturday, deputy commissioner of police, North Zone, Ch Srikanth produced the culprits and the minor girl before the media. The girl was kidnapped while she was playing in her neighbourhood in Prakashnagar on June 6.
Based on a phone call, she was traced to Mumbai.
Police arrested A Seetharam Naik, 35, a mason and Jyothi's neighbour, R Naramma, 25, Laxmi, 30, both workers, and Shekhar Naik, 30, also a mason. The Begumpet police handed over the rescued girl to her mother N Lakshmi.
Police tracked Seetharam Naik when he called Laxmi on her mobile phone after he reached Mumbai on June 7. He reportedly kept the girl at his sister's house and tried to sell her in the red light area.
After preliminary investigation, the Hyderabad police alerted their Mumbai counterparts and rescued the girl. A special police went to Mumbai and arrested Seetharam Naik, Naramma and Shekhar Naik.
