on Friday said the state has created a new record in supply of

urea

to farmers.

The minister said 1.28 lakh tonnes of urea had been supplied since the beginning of September. “In a record of sorts, we have supplied 5,700 tonnes of urea in the last four days alone,” he said. The government had begun distributing 5,200 metric tonnes of urea to the farmers from Friday. About 700 metric tonnes of urea is available in each district now, he said. “We are using road and rail transport for carrying urea to Telangana. So far, in this last week, 20,387 tonnes of urea has been transported to the state from various ports,” he claimed. From Visakhapatnam port, 6,800 metric tonnes of urea had been lifted.

So far, 7.30 lakh tonnes of urea has been supplied in the current kharif season. “The opposition parties are trying to malign the government’s image despite urea stocks being made available in all the districts,” he said.
