As night falls, the markets come alive with people stepping out to enjoy a stroll in the dusk or shop in Charminar,

Laad Bazaar

, Gulzar Houz and Pathergatti under dazzling lights announcing the festive spirit.

Day or night, the area has been packed with people since the holy month of Ramzan began.

"Customers from districts and other parts usually come during day, while those from nearby areas generally prefer to come at night after

Iftar

," said Mohammed Fareed, a shopkeeper.

The numbers increase as evening nears with most people preferring to avoid the heat during the day.

"There is no respite from scorching heat. Customers therefore come out early in the night and the business goes on till midnight," said Mohammed Abdul Rahman, a shopkeeper from Pathergatti.

Not just shoppers, but foodies too can be seen making their way to popular haunts.

Mohammed Faizan

, a stall owner at Moosabowli, said that the place is filled soon after Iftar with people looking for their favourite dish.

What Charminar or Laad Bazaar is for shoppers, Moosabowli is for food lovers in the Old City, Faizan said.

"I have around nine dishes and I manage to sell 150 kg meat every night during this period. People from different places halt here to try the dishes prepared during the holy month,'' said Faizan.
