HYDERABAD:A week after he was admitted in the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences(Nims), tainted Satyam founder Ramalinga Raju has been diagnosed with someblocks in his heart vessels and would be undergoing angioplasty in the nextcouple of days.
His cardiologist at Nims, Dr D Sheshagiri Rao, saidthat Raju may also need stenting. "The angiogram reports will come on September14 and as per the reports, we will go ahead with the treatment. Angioplasty willbe done in the next couple of days. The need for stenting may also arise," saidDr D Sheshagiri Rao, HOD, Cardiology Department, Nims. Angiogram was performedon Raju on Saturday.
Angioplasty is the technique of mechanicallywidening a narrowed or obstructed blood vessel.
When asked about hiscondition, Dr Rao said that otherwise, the 54-year-old is stable. Raju is alsosuffering from a chronic Hepatitis C condition, the treatment for which maystart only after his heart condition is stabilised. Raju was admitted to Nims onthe evening of September 7 after he suffered a very mild heartattack.
