Rajasthan encounter by Andhra cops has Hyderabad hawala link
HYDERABAD: A special operation by Kurnool cops to nab a notorious highway dacoit ended up in a car chase, exchange of fire and ultimate killing of the dacoit Bheem Singh in Jalore district of Rajasthan on Friday afternoon.A 55-year-old pedestrian was also killed when the car in which the dacoit was fleeing veered out of control and ran over her.
A Hyderabadi connection has emerged in the case. Singh from Rajasthan was involved in a `5.5 crore robbery near Dhone in Kurnool on September 14. Interestingly , the looted currency notes belonged to a jeweller from Maharashtra and were being transported by a Hyderabad-based money transfer company . It is suspected that information about the money shipment emerged from Hyderabad.
Dhone Rural police booked a case of dacoity and arms act (crime number 1772017) based on a complaint lodged by Deepkaran Choubisa, a native of Udaipur, on September 14.Police said the money was being transported from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra to Bengaluru via Hyderabad and Dhone. The money belonged to Kalvadhurva Gems and Jewellers of Ahmednagar, and was carried by a city-based money transfer firm located at MLA Colony in Banjara Hills.
Dhone police officials said, “Money transporting company workers Deepkaran and Aravind Singh took the cash of `5.5 crore and were going in a Scorpio car. They work for one Nilesh of Hyderabad. As their car was moving on the highway on September 14 in between Dhone and Pyapili, the dacoity gang intercepted it. Masked men came out of the vehicle and threatened the duo with firearms and took away cash boxes. The money was supposed to be handed over to a gold businessman in Bengaluru. The jeweller from Ahmednagar produced bank receipts for `2.5 crore initially and later claimed that he had all bank withdrawal receipts.Transfer of such a huge quantity of cash is against norms.“
Three police teams led by CCS deputy superintendent of police Hussain Peera camped in Rajasthan and tracked Singh. Peera told TOI, “Bheem Singh refused to surrender and tried to flee in a Scorpio , he was gunned down.“
