Railways recruitment test goes online
HYDERABAD: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will for the first time conduct an online recruitment test for section engineers in June, 2005. The RRBs of Bangalore and Chennai have been given the responsibility of conducting these tests.
The online examination is being started as a pilot project.
"If it clicks, the board plans to implement the system for other recruitment exams as well," RRB Secunderabad chairman M Akhtar told The Times of India.
1x1 polls

Since the number of applicants for the section engineer''s (SE) post is relatively less compared to other jobs, the board has decided to experiment with an online examination system. Besides, since the applicants are all engineering graduates they will not face any technical difficulties in taking the test.
About 30,000 candidates are expected to sit for the examination. According to Akhtar conducting tests online has many advantages.
The results would be available in a day or two and the entire recruitment process should be wrapped up in a few weeks.
Besides, it would be cost-effective as well. If this experiment clicks, the board is planning to receive job
applications online too, a senior official said.
