HYDERABAD:
Sohail Ahmed (name changed) from Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), who was mulling to immigrate to Canada, approached Abdul Raheemuddin as he did not have the requisite qualification and documents.
Raheemuddin handed over the original passport of Sohail to Mohammed Shaik Illiyas of Chennai, who in turn altered the J&K address on the passport, and when the J&K native appeared before the High Commission of Canada, the address on the passport was of New York in the US and Sohail was declared a Non Resident Indian (NRI).
During investigation of the visa fraud, Task Force sleuths of the Hyderabad police found that Illiyas had removed pages in the Indian passport where details of the passport holder, address and other details were mentioned. In its place, he replaced the pages with the New York address.
"Raheemuddin told Sohail that since the latter is from J&K, there will be extra scrutiny at the time of applying for Canada visa . So, instead of using his J&K address, Illiyas changed it. In his passport, a fake entry and exit immigration stamps along with the US visa was fabricated,'' Task Force inspector K Nageshwar Rao said. Officials said Indian passport details would not be available with other countries.
After Sohail succeeded in getting Canada visa, Illiyas again replaced the original page 2 and attached pages, removing the fraudulent paper. Sohail went to Canada without any hassles with his J&K address on the passport.
Many persons whose visa applications get either rejected or who were unqualified approach agents like Raheemuddin..
In another case, a 55-year-old man from Hyderabad wanted to move to Canada by creating a fake profile as if his sister was suffering from ill-health in that country. He too approached Raheemuddin. Using this business Raheemuddin earned 1 crore besides purchasing an independent house in Shaheen Nagar and a flat in Alwal. Raheemuddin had stayed in the US for 18 months on a student visa some years ago and did blue collar jobs before he returned to Hyderabad and started the fake visa business.
