HYDERABAD: The Nizamabad district police have uncovered a printing press being run clandestinely by the People's War (PW) naxalites at Gandhinagar in the city.

hyderabad: the nizamabad district police have uncovered a printing press being run clandestinely by the people's war (pw) naxalites at gandhinagar in the city. the owner of the printing press, dommata rami reddy, a native of bogada bhupathipuram in medak district, was taken into custody. nizamabad district superintendent of police ravi shankar ayyanar in a press release on monday said rami reddy was paid rs 7 lakh by senior pw leader g saraiah alias azad to set up the printing press.

as per the instructions of azad, rami reddy collected the money and purchased an offset machine of 18x25 size, a 32 inches cutting machine, a pinning machine, a perforation machine and a pressing machine. the equipment was installed at a rented house in gandhinagar. according to the nizamabad sp, pw was using the printing press to publish party literature and propaganda material. the police received a lead into the case with the arrest of a local telugu daily reporter sirimalle srinivas on january 15. information about srinivas came through the diary found in possession of pw nizamabad district committee member ilanna, who was killed in an encounter with the police earlier this month. rami reddy, 35, is a contractor by profession and has been a pw sympathiser since 1997. he was introduced to the pw by ramesh goud alias ajay, a senior pw leader, who surrendered to the police recently.
