Hyderabad: President
Droupadi Murmu wound up her five-day visit to Telangana by making a stopover at Yadadri on Friday by having
darshan of the lord and taking part in a special
puja at Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple.
On her arrival at the temple, the temple priests welcomed her with ‘purna kumbham’ amid chants of Vedic hymns. She also participated in ‘sankalpam’ and ‘swarna pushparchana’ rituals, which were performed by the priests to the presiding deity.
Murmu visited the mada streets and was amazed by the temple’s sculptures. Senior temple priests blessed Murmu at the temple’s main hall where the sanctum sanctorum is located. Temple executive officer N Geetha briefed her about the temple’s refurbishment works and importance of ‘Krishna Sila’ stone used in the entire temple complex.
Murmu is the fifth President after Rajendra Prasad, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Shankar Dayal Sharma and Pranab Mukherjee to have visited the hill shrine, 60 km from Hyderabad. Yadadri visit was the last engagement of Murmu’s five-day visit to Telangana. She landed here on Dec. 26 as part of her southern sojourn.
