HYDERABAD: The withdrawal of the major constituent 1104 union notwithstanding, the other constituents of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) have decided to go ahead with its call for an indefinite strike from June 7.
The JAC,which was reconstituted following the resignation of 1104 union president and JAC chairman M V Ramana, took a decision to this effect after elaborate discussions on the issue on Wednesday.
The committee, however, deferred the proposed “chalo Hyderabad rally from May 24 to June 3, as the members wanted more time to make arrangements in the light of withdrawal of the 1104 union.
The JAC members said that they would continue their work-to-rule programme throughout the state. The committee would also submit a memorandum to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu before May 26 highlighting the issues and requesting the latter to concede their demands.
The JAC said that they would also launch an awareness campaignabout problems faced by the power sector.
In another development, B Venkata Reddy of the APSEB Engineers Association has been elected the new chairman of the Joint Action Committee while P V V Satyanarayana and K Raghu would continue as secretary general and treasurer of the committee respectively.
