Telangana legislative council

seats from nine local authorities constituencies will be held on December 10. Announcing the poll schedule on Tuesday, the Election Commission of India said the election notification will be issued on November 16.

The last date for filing of nominations is November 23. The results will be declared on December 14. Following the announcement of the schedule, the model code of conduct came into effect immediately in nine local authorities constituencies where polls for 12 seats will be conducted.

The local authorities constituencies include Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Medak, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad and Rangareddy.

The ECI ordered chief secretary Somesh Kumar to depute a senior officer to ensure that Covid-19 guidelines are followed during the elections.

The term of 12 MLCs, including that of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter, K Kavitha, will expire on January 4, 2022.

Among the others whose tenure will also end on January 4 are: Puranam Satish Kumar, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Tera Chinnappa Reddy, V Bhoopal Reddy, Balasani Laxminarayana, T Bhanuprasad Rao, Naradasu Laxman Rao, Kasireddy Narayan Reddy, K Damodar Reddy, Patnam Mahender Reddy and Sunkari Raju (all from TRS).
