HYDERABAD: The Amberpet police on Saturday unravelled the mystery behind the murder of an ice-cream stock point delivery boy Vishnumurthy, 21, with the arrest of three persons.
The accused were identified as Tabrez Khan alias Feroz, 20, Shaik Akram, 16 and Mohammed Parvez, 16, all residents of Quadri Bagh in Amberpet. The main accused in the murder, Qadeer Qureshi is still at large and the police have launched a hunt to nab him.
According to the police, the car driver of the ice-cream stock point owner Shekar and the three others did Vishnumurthy to death as he resisted their attempts to steal the money from the office.
The victim was found murdered with his throat slit open in the office building in D D Colony at Amberpet early on April 14.
The gruesome murder baffled the police as two empty ice cream cups in the office room suggested that persons known to the victim might have committed the offence.
Interrogations by the police revealed that Tabrez Khan and his friend Qadeer went to the office where the former applied for ten days leave and asked for Rs 500. Qadeer then noticed the cashier keeping cash in the almirah in the office on April 13. On the same day, the duo hatched a plan with the help of his accomplices to steal the money and informed the same to the others. Accordingly, they went to the office after April 13 midnight. As he knew Tabrez, Vishnumurthy opened the door and allowed them in.
But he became angry when Tabrez revealed the plan and offered him a share in the booty. When Vishnumurthy threatened them at knife point and asked them to leave the place, the accused overpowered him and killed him by slitting his throat. The accused confessed that they committed the murder and got away with Rs 150 from the wallet of the deceased.
They were unsuccessful in breaking the almirah and escaped from the scene.
