HYDERABAD: After knocking out two of her relatives with sedative-laced lemon juice, a housewife stole 53.8 tola gold from their house in Nallakunta. The accused used surgical gloves to avoid leaving any evidence behind but call data analysis helped cops unravel the mystery within 24 hours.
S Vamshi Krishna, 23, an engineer working in Sheikpet and V Surya Krishna, 29, a technician working in Tollywood, helped her steal the gold.

The main accused Kushboo Naidu, 36, from Begumpet was in need of money to support her ailing father and brother. She noticed that her husband’s aunt, P Vinaya Kumari, 54, had over half-a-kilo gold jewellery at her house. Vinaya Kumari was a telephone operator at Telangana State Police Academy.
Kushboo visited Kumari and her daughter Keerthi on July 19 on the pretext of participating in the Lakshmi puja. At 1pm, she offered Kumari and Keerthi, lemon juice laced with three sleeping pills. “After an hour, Keerthi woke up and found her mother unconscious. Kushboo helped Keerthi shift Kumari to hospital,” Hyderabad commissioner Anjani Kumar said.
“Kushboo stole the keys from Kumari’s hand bag and gave them to her associates who met her at the hospital. After committing the offence, they locked the almairah and the main door.
The complainant who was hospitalised for three days due to sedation, realised about the theft on July 23, when Keerthi went home to pick up clothes for her mother,” Nallakunta DI K Saidulu said.
Police found out that Kushboo made maximum number of calls on July 19, when she was at the hospital. Police picked up the other two accused she was in contact with and during the interrogation, they confessed to have committed the offence. Police recovered 54 tola gold and Rs 5.25 lakh cash from the trio on Thursday.
