Cyberabad police have registered a fresh criminal case after photographs, videos and other details leading to the identification of a minor girl and her parents were circulated online in connection with the Pocso case registered at Pet Basheerabad police station againstBandi Bageerath.
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police have registered a fresh criminal case after photographs, videos and other details leading to the identification of a minor girl and her parents were circulated online in connection with the Pocso case registered at Pet Basheerabad police station againstBandi Bageerath.Acting on a complaint filed by the chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Pet Basheerabad police registered a case on Thursday under Section 74 (prohibition of revealing identity) of the Juvenile Justice Act, Section 72(1) (disclosure of identity of victim of certain offences etc) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 23 (prohibition of disclosure) of the Pocso Act.The case was booked against social media users who shared the girl’s photographs, videos and personal details, as well as those of her parents.Police said Instagram and Facebook account IDs, along with relevant URLs used to circulate the material, have been identified, and efforts are underway to trace the handlers.Pet Basheerabad police warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found sharing or amplifying such content online.
