HYDERABAD: Poachgate case accused Ramachandra Bharathi and K Nanda Kumar are all set to walk out of Chanchalguda central prison on bail, but there is a possibility of police arresting them again as they have been charged in several cases.
Ramachandra Bharathi has been charged in two forgery cases, while Nanda Kumar was booked in six cheating cases, all registered at the Banjara Hills police station between November 13 and 18.
After his arrest in Poachgate case, a case under Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was also registered in Cyberabad commissionerate limits against Nanda Kumar when he was in judicial custody.
On November 24, Rajendranagar police of Cyberabad received a complaint from a 55-year-old businessman, Mamidi Balaiah from Gajawada village in Regodu mandal of Medak district, alleging that Nanda Kumar had cheated him of 80 lakh and, when questioned, Kumar also abused him referring to his caste.
Balaiah alleged that Nanda Kumar, his wife Chitralekha and their associate Krishna Reddy entered into three agreements with him on different dates and received 80 lakh with a promise to sell land in Mungi village, Nyalakal mandal of Rangareddy district.
"But Nanda Kumar and others had subsequently avoided executing registration and sold the same land to third parties. When I questioned the accused, Nanda Kumar abused me by referring to my caste," Balaiah alleged.
Based on the complaint, Rajendranagar police had registered a case under Sections 406, 420, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the SC&ST (POA) Act against Nanda Kumar and others on November 24, 2022.
The cheating cases against Nanda Kumar were registered between November 13 and 18 based on complaints of different business persons. While police had regularised his arrest in one of the cases, a prisoner transit (PT) warrant filed in another case by police was rejected by court and police were also issued a memo to provide details of all other cases booked against him and the reasons for requesting for PT warrants in each one of them separately.
According to police, Nanda Kumar is also an accused in a cheating case registered at the Rajendranagar PS in 2015 and an Excise Act case booked at Ameerpet Excise PS in 2018. Both cases were pending trial.
