HYDERABAD: The Banjara Hills police have registered a case of criminal intimidation against Mohammed bin Omer Yafai alias Mohammed Pahelwan on a court-referred complaint filed by Chandrayangutta MLA and MIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi.
Akbaruddin Owaisi approached court claiming that Pahelwan had threatened him during an interview with a local channel.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the Nampally criminal court directed the Banjara Hills police to file a case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Pahelwan is the prime accused in the attack on Akbaruddin Owaisi, which took place on April 30 last year. He is currently lodged in the Cherlapally prison after his bail was cancelled by AP high court in April this year.
A special leave petition filed by him for bail in the
Supreme Court is pending.
