Over 180 under-age drivers booked by Hyderabad cops in 3 days

HYDERABAD: Police officials registered as many as 182 cases against minors who were

driving

vehicles in the city in the last three days.


During the first three days, the traffic police recorded 60 cases in east zone, 69 in central zone and the remaining in south zone.

In a counselling session, deputy commissioner of police, K Babu Rao said it was observed that most minors were driving a vehicle by violating

MV Act Rules

, and some of the parents were knowingly allowing their children to drive/ride vehicles.

The traffic police requested parents to ensure their children do not drive vehicles until reach the age to obtain a licence.

“Children are found driving a vehicle to run errands such as bringing milk, vegetables and other grocery, or to drop some relative to bus stand or Metro station, or trying to learn driving. Some were also found driving/riding without the knowledge of their parents,” he said. Babu Rao said that it is an offence to give vehicles to minors.

The traffic police held a programme to bring in awareness about the MV Act rules and the dangers of minors driving.
