Police were informed about the suicide and during the preliminary probe it was learnt that Uday had played rummy online on Friday night.
"On Friday night, Uday Bhaskar took his mother's mobile phone and played online rummy. His mother's phone number was linked to her bank account and he lost 46,000 in the online game," the SI said. Police have seized the cell phone.
"We suspect that Uday ended his life due to loss in the online game," the SI said. Neighbours reportedly told police that Uday had lost money through online gaming on an earlier occasion too.
