HYDERABAD: The death toll in the Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd (GOCL) blast increased to three on Wednesday, after 61-year-old Madhusudhan Reddy, who had sustained 96 per cent burns, passed away while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
The deceased was shifted from a private hospital to Apollo DRDO hospital late on Monday night but doctors could do little as the impact of the explosion had damaged Madhusudhan Reddy’s internal organs, sources said.
In a bulletin, the hospital said the condition of four other severely injured employees Abdul Saleem, 59, Krishna Swamy, 59, Muthyala Rao , 56 and Mahatma, 60, continued to remain critical as all of them had suffered more than 45 per cent burns.
In the case of 24-year-old Surender Reddy, doctors expressed hope, but did not completely rule him out of danger.
Meanwhile, the remaining seven employees, who are suffering from minor injuries, are being treated at Apollo Jubilee Hills and are reportedly stable.
